1010 IN-PERSON Folk Music: From Post-WWII to Today
Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 1/3/25 10:00 AM
We will examine (mostly) American folk music, concentrating on the post-war folk revival in Greenwich Village as well as the inclusion of drums and electric instruments in the mid 1960s. Then, we will listen to the artists who (mostly) returned to acoustic accompaniment at the end of the 20th century.
Moderator: Bruce Bowdon taught music in middle school for 43 years. He fantasized about being a famous folk singer, only to be held back by the fact he couldn't play a portable instrument and couldn't sing.
