3017 Golden Age of Cincinnati Top-40 Radio

One-time in-Person | Registration opens 1/3/25 10:00 AM

In the 1960s, the Top-40 hit radio format was a champion of open-minded musical diversity at a time when music was overflowing with groundbreaking experiments. James Brown was heard next to Bob Dylan, the Beatles next to Motown, and much more. The presentation will feature an edited suspenseful reveal, song by song, of the top songs on a specific WSAI Top-40 weekly survey from the 1960s. We will play song excerpts, comment on, give information about the hit oldies, and seek your feedback.

Moderators: Steven Rosen has moderated OLLI music-related classes previously and wrote the book Lost Cincinnati Concert Venues of the 1950s and 1960s. Bill Soudrette collects material related to Cincinnati music, especially of the 1960s and 1970s.
