4708 Horror Operas: Magic and Menace through Music
Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 1/3/25 10:00 AM
As we travel from the darkest months of the year back to the dawn of spring, let’s explore the frightening and at times ghoulish “Horror Opera” genre. We will move from an overview of the multitude of stories and their elements to viewing specific operas where we will see these elements in action. We will discuss the meaning and lessons for humanity as we navigate through the stories.
Moderator: Deborah Lewis, President of the Wagner Society of Cincinnati and Board President of Queen City Opera, has developed an interest in the "ghoulish" since attending her first performance of Der Freischutz, or The Magic Bullet, in Cincinnati a few years ago.
