Art of Storytelling w/clay
Homeschool | Available (Membership Required)
In this two-part class, students will explore storytelling through art and animation! Young artists will begin by creating a story with a main character who has a problem to solve and deciding how the story ends. Inspired by popular claymation videos, students will bring their ideas to life by sculpting their characters and props from plasticine clay.
Day 1: Students will write a short story and create their clay characters and props, thinking about the beginning, middle, and end of their story. Does the story teach a lesson, make a connection, or simply entertain?
Day 2: Students will learn the basics of stop-motion animation. Using a stop-motion app and their plasticine clay creations, they will photograph small movements to create a short animated video of their story. By the end of the class, each student will have created a clay character, a story, and their very own mini animated film!
