For this two-part lesson, get ready to sculpt with clay! Students will learn how to build a human head using handbuilding techniques while exploring face proportions and features. This class is inspired by artist William Artis, featured in the Torggler’s Gateways: African American Art from the Key Collection exhibition, who made amazing stoneware busts like Michael. Students will have fun shaping their own heads and bringing their creations to life. Each student will create a stoneware bust of themselves, turning clay into a unique piece of art that shows their personality!
