These are suggestions only. You don’t have to go out and buy all this stuff. You do need the primary colors, good quality paper, at least one flat and one round brush and some kind of painting board. You can make do for the rest.
Paints: Rose Madder, Cadmium Red, Brilliant Orange, Aureolin, Cadmium Yellow, Raw Sienna, Cobolt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Sap Green, Viridian, Raw Umber and Burnt Sienna
White plastic palette
Paper: 140 lb. cold press water color paper. Arches or Saunders Waterford.
Painting board: to hold your paper – Marine plywood or foam board (about 16-inch x 20-inch)
Sketchbook (spiral bound preferred) and pencils
Spray bottle
Large plastic cup (16 to 20 oz)
Tissues
Sponge
Masking Tape
Brushes: 1-inch flat, 1/2-inch flat, #12 round, #10 round and #6 rigger (If you already have flats, rounds, riggers, etc., just use what you have). I use a #18 Dreamcatcher from Cheap Joe’s and love it. If you are buying brushes, it pays to purchase good ones.
