Materials List for ‘Intermediate & Advanced Drawing’ 2025
Mary Lee Ruff
Paper - I recommend paper that is 80lb or higher in weight and
14”x17” or 18”x24” in size.
Both Strathmore and Canson brands are available in spiral bound pads.
Be sure to purchase a ‘drawing’ pad (better quality) and not a ‘sketch’ pad.
Pencils - A full range of pencils includes:
9H, 8H, 7H, 6H, 5H, 4H, 3H, 2H, H, F, HB, B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B, 7B, 8B, 9B.
The minimum pencils to start with are 2B, HB, and 2H.
Acceptable pencil brands include: Derwent, Tombow, Eberhard Faber, Staedtler,
Kimberly, Prismacolor Turquoise, Koh-I-Noor, Sanford, and General.
Erasers - A grey kneaded rubber eraser and a white eraser are a must.
The Tombow Mono Zero is helpful when working with small details.
Pencil sharpener - Hand held, battery powered, or electric.
