9031. Veneered Mantle Box

Learn historical fine woodworking techniques both by hand and machine. To build this mantle box, you'll practice hand cut dovetails, resawing and gluing veneer and fitting hinges. The finished project is a simple but elegant, lidded box that can hang on the wall or rest on your mantle as a convenient spot to stash your keys, coins, or any manner of small items.

- A $30 materials fee will be added to the total class fee at checkout

- Enrollment is open to students ages 18 and up

Tom Hollis is a biochemist at Wake Forest School of Medicine. He has been making contemporary and period furniture for almost 30 years. Tom has been trained by Lonnie Bird and self-taught.
