Art History Flavor: What is Cubism?? Picasso Style

In this 4 week class we will learn about creating a cubism composition using various perspectives and combining them into one final piece as Picasso did. This unique form of art is all about the process of adding and subtracting lines to achieve an abstract/fractured version of common objects that is still recognizable. Basic supplies are included for use over the duration of the class. Students may wish to purchase additional paint if needed. Ages 14 and up.

1 medium canvas per person 16x16 or 20x20
Cups
Towel or old tshirt for messy hands and brushes
Items to assemble still lifes - mugs, vases, flowers, cloth, small common objects
Sketchbook paper
Graphite sticks erasers
Tracing paper
Bryn Lenkaitis
Bryn Lenkaitis is a Pennsylvania native who fell in love with the people and places of North Carolina and decided to make it home about 4 years ago. She has a BA in Art History and Studio Art from IUP where she was given the opportunity to study in both Croatia and Spain – most memorable being her experience backpacking the El Camino de Santiago across Northern Spain.
When she’s not working as a Philanthropic Project Specialist aiding in the fundraising efforts for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, Bryn creates art mainly in acrylics and oils but also experiments with ink and mixed media. Her artwork explores the use of bold color and texture to bring to life both the beautiful adventures and day-to-day places she inhabits. In doing so, she can put down roots in the rich soil of each new community she finds herself in and preserve the transient landscapes along the way that bring her immense joy.
