Ice Dyeing

Class - Textiles | Registration opens 5/13/2025 9:00 AM EDT

Ice dye is the art of placing ice cubes on top of fabric, then sprinkling dye powder on top of the ice, letting the melting process dictate how the dye splits and bleeds, and where it ultimately lands on the fabric–leading to surprising and delightful results every time!  In this extended class, students will learn different techniques for manipulated the fabric to create unique designs with the dyes.  Students 14 and up.

  • Students should plan to bring a pre-washed (NO fabric softener) 100% cotton garment or a 25" square of cotton fabric to each class as well as a face mask for using dye powders.
