Discover the creative possibilities beyond traditional black-and-white printing in this hands-on Alternative Darkroom Printing workshop. Over the course of four hours, participants will explore experimental and historical darkroom techniques that push the boundaries of analog photography.

This workshop introduces methods such as photograms, toning, paper manipulation, and multi-exposure printing, offering a playful and expressive approach to darkroom work. Ideal for photographers, artists, or anyone curious about non-traditional processes, this session encourages experimentation and personal expression using light, chemistry, and paper.

Workshop Details:

  • Duration: 4 hours (single-session workshop)

  • Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate

  • Format: In-person, hands-on

  • Materials: All chemistry and basic materials included (optional: bring your own negatives or objects to experiment with)

Laurie Schorr

Laurie Schorr previously worked as the Education Director at The Light Factory and is a teaching artist at various locations throughout the region. Laurie has received numerous grants and awards, including PhotoLucida Critical Mass top 200 in 2014, and has been exhibited Nationally and Internationally. Her first solo exhibition opened at Francis Marion University in August, 2019.
