Demystify the complexity of using flash with your camera. Learn how to create soft and pleasing light by using flash both on and off your camera. This 3 week class explores the use of speedlites with mirrorless and DSLR camera systems. Techniques will include methods of bouncing, diffusing, and coloring your light source. We will discuss and illustrate the pros and cons of TTl vs manual flash exposure in addition to the when and why to choose a particular method. Take advantage of our professional flash lighting gear for in house demonstrations and practice. Become immersed in the fundamentals of lighting with clear and approachable class assignments and homework. Speedlites are not required for this class. Sawtooth will provide professional lighting compatible with all cameras with a hot shoe for in class use and assignments. Ages: 15 - Adult
Bryan Rierson
Bryan is a full-time commercial photographer with over 25 years experience based in the Winston-Salem, NC area. A graduate of the Randolph Community College Photographic Technology program, he has produced work for national advertising agencies, corporations, and worldwide publications. He also has extensive experience photographing portraits and weddings both on film and digitally. He began teaching photography in 2011 with the Peace Camera workshop series in Raleigh, NC. Bryan's personal work is now focused on medium and large format film portraits and landscapes.
