Creating Form by Capturing Light and Shadow
Class - Graphics 2D | Registration opens 5/13/2025 9:00 AM EDT
Students will do various exercises to step by step increase their awareness of how to capture light, how to avoid common mistakes and how to create works that encompass mood and beauty.

- Supplies students need to bring:
- Soft Compressed Charcoal Drawing Sticks
- Vine Charcoal or Willow Charcoal
- Conte’ Sticks
- Hard Eraser block (White or Pinky Eraser)
- Kneaded Erase
- Razor Knife
- Sandpaper
Craig Richards
Craig has a deep love for the outdoors, spending most of his free time climbing, paddling and hiking. This love is reflected in the essence of his paintings and sculptures. His paintings are primarily in oils reflecting a variety of styles. His sculptures combine the feel of the natural world coupled with sparks of modern elements. He is the founding member of Triad Outdoor Painters a group of local artists in the NC Piedmont and Foothills and a long time member of Muddy River Art Association.
