*NEW* 1999. B. Clip Studio Paint/Photoshop for Beginners

Learn the fundamentals of Clip Studio Paint, software that many animators and comic designers call 'an essential part of creating a character'. In this 4-week workshop you will develop an understanding of the tools and capabilities of Clip Art Studio and how to implement its unique features into a critical and polished workflow. Furthermore, we will compare and contrast Clip Studio with the capabilities of Adobe Photoshop and the when and why you should one or the other program in building your creations. Start with a blank slate (IPAD) and in 4 weeks finish with developed character/s to springboard your creativity, illustrations, and/or comic book narrative.

Week 1 - Setting up the program
Learn the program's layout, including layers, brushes, short cuts, and customize your workstation.
Week 2 - Sketching with new knowledge
Utilize shortcuts and layers to master basic sketching, painting, and efficient coloring techniques, creating innovative artwork.
Week 3 - Advanced tools and effects
Explore advanced tools that enhance artwork's effects for a more professional appearance.
Week 4 - Finalizing project
Complete artwork applying color theory, rendering, and special effects, testing self-navigation and program skills without class support beyond the course length. In other words, everything learned from the previous weeks is all applied together along with new additional materials to maintain stability and confidence with the program comfortably.
Catherine Nguy
Catherine Nguy is a young adult from Winston-Salem, currently enrolled in several Advanced Placement (AP) courses and participating in dual enrollment at a local community college while completing her high school education.
Catherine began nurturing her interest in art at an early age by using MS Paint for her drawing ideas, which later evolved as she transitioned to Medibang, Procreate, Paint Tool Sai 2, Clip Studio Paint, and ultimately Photoshop over eight years after first engaging with digital software.
As an art instructor at Sawtooth Art School, Nguy aims to inspire motivation, inclusion, critical thinking, and a renewed appreciation for art from diverse perspectives for individuals of all artistic levels.
