Grace Kooken
Grace received her BFA in Graphic Design from East Carolina University but didn’t start her journey in clay until graduating. A Winston-Salem local she grew up attending classes at Sawtooth in the summers as a kid and teen. She started taking Thursday night wheel throwing classes in 2012 and still does to this day while also exploring handbuilding her own personal dish shapes and silly sculptures. Grace has also been a work-trade student since January 2020, completed a Sawtooth Ceramics Community Internship, and has been teaching Taste of Art classes since December 2022. Around these activities she challenges herself to refine and learn new ceramics skills, share her knowledge with fellow students, and spend too much time at Sawtooth’s wood kilns.
