Unlock the world of quilting!  In the comprehensive and interactive Quilting 101 workshop, discover the fundamentals of quilting, from basic stitches to finishing techniques.  Perfect for beginners, this hands-on class cover essential skills, tools and materials to get you started on your quilting journey.  Students will need to bring their own fabric and a few other materials.  A supply list will be sent out ahead of the class.  Students who have taken Sewing 101 will find much success with this class!  Ages 14 and up.

  • MUST HAVE FOR CLASS
    Fabric - ¼ yard of 4 coordinating print fabrics or a Jelly Roll (page 14), or a Fat Quarter Bundle
    (page 13)
    1 ¼ yard neutral background (white, off-white, gray)
    2 ¼ yards contrasting background (Can coordinate with print fabrics)
    4 ½ yards backing fabric (can be purchased later)

    Batting - Twin-sized batting (Purchased later, after we talk about your preferences in class)
    Thread, neutral for piecing, size 50 wt, 100% cotton
    If you have a sewing kit of your own, please bring it.
    If you have your own sewing machine in functioning order that you feel confident using, please
    bring it.

McFetters, Grace
Grace McFetters

Grace McFetters has studied various fiber arts since 2013, starting with knitting.  She began to explore weaving in early 2017. Grace established her fiber studio, Transcend Fiber Studio, in 2018, and formalized her fiber business in early 2020.  She has taught Ukrainian Easter Eggs since 2011, and began teaching fiber arts, including knitting, weaving, hand spinning, and dyeing since 2018. As Grace grows as an artist and continues learning new techniques, she continues to add to her teaching repertoire.  She now teaches sewing, both by hand and by machine, as well as some fun topics like needle felting, wool painting, and textile collage!
