4204 The Painterly Print: Dark Field Monotype
Class - Printmaking | Available
Are you passionate about painting but eager to enhance your skills? Join us to learn the fundamentals—and some insider tips—of monotype printing, focusing on high contrast and deep darks using water-soluble ink. You’ll merge drawing and painting techniques to create dynamic prints in each session. Dark-field monotypes can range from powerful, atmospheric styles to straightforward, graphic presentations.
In this course, we will use plexiglass as a reusable base along with a variety of everyday tools to manipulate the ink through both reductive and additive methods. This form of monotyping accommodates a wide range of styles and techniques. Students will learn how to work reductively with the ink, correctly set up and operate the press, and print their images. This class is perfect for anyone looking to explore a different and rewarding type of printmaking.
