This exciting offering is a project-based workshop intended for beginning to intermediate students. Discuss and learn about digital collage and the multiple layering techniques available by viewing and deconstructing original pieces by the instructor. Absorbing aspects of her process, students will learn the beauty of digital collage is its flexibility: It can employ many different media, and styles, tools, and techniques. Students will watch demos, ask questions, and ultimately create a digital collage primarily using the Procreate program. Students are encouraged to bring their own photos as a starting point for their collage. Leave the workshop with a finished piece to share online or print at home. Bothclasses will be held in person at Sawtooth School. Ages: 13-Adult
- An Ipad, Laptop, or digital tablet is required for in class tutorials and assignments. If you do not have access to one of these Sawtooth will provide Laptops (at school use only) for up to two students on a first come first serve basis.
Kim Thore
Kim Thore is a writer, artist and cultural commentator ...she began studying drawing at the age of 8 and continued through college culminating in a portfolio of mixed media and sculpture. She is proud that she also studied photography and painting at Sawtooth when she was a teenager.
She began using digital collage as her primary medium in 2014 launching a new website www.kimtasticart.com in 2017 and also a line of clothing and home decor featuring her art .
Using multiple layers, programs and design techniques her pieces explore glamour, fashion, and other chimera. She has exhibited locally in W-S, Raleigh and Miami and her work is in collections in Europe and the United States.
She has also built her own Marketing Firm, FRESH Productions that focused on marketing for artists and creatives and ran it for 10 years here in the Triad. She is currently freelances as a marketer and public relations director for several local businesses.
