This class is available to students who have taken 2 clay class at Sawtooth. If you have prior experience from a different studio, please contact the Director of Ceramics for approval.
Explore the creative possibilities of clay without using a potter's wheel. Students will learn pinch, slab, and coil techniques to create various projects. Students with experience can refine their skills while exploring new forms and design options. Decorating and glazing techniques will also be explored.
Ages: 16 - Adult
A $30 material fee for the first 25 pounds of stoneware clay will be added at time of checkout.
- This class meets a total of 9 times.
In addition to class instruction, the tuition includes related glazes, firings, and access to open studio hours (open studio hours are subject to change).

For the first day of class, you will need the following:
- 1 old towel and/or apron
- 1 large car wash sponge
- 2-3 paint brushes (small or medium in size)
- 1 pottery tool kit (available for purchase on the first day of class for $20)

Nicole Studied handbuilding under Lana Wilson at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Cristina Cordova at Penland School of Craft. Received MFA in sculpture from Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, MA. Known for hand coiling, free-formed slabs and highly textured works.
