Torch-Fired Liquid Enamel on Copper Weekend Workshop
Workshop - Metals | Available
In this technique-based workshop, students will learn how to create one-of-a-kind enamel pieces using liquid form white enamel on copper. We will discuss enamel consistency, application, sgraffito designs, kiln firing, and torch firing. This contemporary enameling technique allows for the unique and interesting addition of color to jewelry designs by adding extra heat. We will create several sample pieces, and students will leave with a finished pair of earrings or a pendant.
What a fun way to get insight into the world of enameled jewelry, and gain experience of fundamental enameling skills! Basic metalsmithing experience is not a requirement, but helpful. A kit fee of $50 will be collected by the instructor during the workshop and includes enamels, copper, necessary tools and accessories.
Students are welcome to bring a beverage and bag lunch or snacks and take a short lunch break each day.
