This workshop is to commemorate the legacy of the 18th century African American potter, Peter Oliver. Once an enslaved man, Peter Oliver worked under two Moravian master potters, Rudolph Christ and Gottfried Aust. After Peter Oliver mastered his skills in pottery, he was able to free himself from slavery later in life.
Through this workshop, each participant will learn to decorate a 7" plate in the Moravian style through slip trailing and under glaze painting. (Ages 18+)

This workshop is in collaboration with Creative Corridors Coalition.

  • Each workshop participant will be provided with one 7" bisque fired plate and needed tools. A completed plate will be ready for pick up in two weeks after the workshop.
