Hone your way to the perfect edge! To carve wood safely and efficiently, you need to be able to keep your tools sharp. In this Saturday sharpening intensive, learn sharpening techniques from greenwood bowl carver, Mike Cundall. The workshop will focus on greenwood carving tools such as axes, adzes, gouges and slojd knives, but the lessons will be applicable to all manner of carving tools and pocket knives. Bring your own tools to class and get guidance on how to keep them all in great shape.

Additional Information:

  • This workshop is open to students ages 18 and up.
  • Registration will close one week prior to the start of class
  • You are encouraged to bring not just your tools, but also your sharpening supplies, should you already have them.

Cundall, Mike

Mike Cundall is a professor of philosophy at NCA&T and has been teaching green woodworking, bowl and spoon carving for several years. He particularly likes bowls and has fun making spoons. He’s taught bowls and spoons at places like John C. Campbell Folkschool, Wood & Shop woodworking school, and at the Greenwood Wrights’ Fest.
