As a student in this class, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the art of drawing from observation. You will learn how to precisely render and draw objects, bringing them to life on paper.

To achieve this, we will focus on drawing still life and other objects, utilizing a range of drawing media that includes pencil, graphite, colored pencil, and ink. By the end of the course, you will have honed your skills and developed an eye for detail that will enable you to create stunning, realistic drawings.

  • CLASS INFORMATION:

What to Wear: Art gets messy, so wear clothing suitable for an artist! It sometimes gets chilly in the studios, so an extra layer is recommended.

What to Bring: Sawtooth will provide all materials and supplies needed for class. Students are welcome to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and a snack to be eaten during a break.

While parents and guardians are more than welcome to stay in the building, we kindly ask that you don't stay with your children during the class. We've found that this can sometimes hinder the creative process.

Parking: Lastly, metered parking is available on Marshall and Spruce Street and is free on evenings and weekends.

Please note that face coverings are now optional on Sawtooth's campus, including in all studios. We ask that you remain respectful of all students and keep in mind that Sawtooth is an inclusive environment. We want everyone to feel supported, safe, and welcome on campus. They're available at our front desk if you need a disposable mask.
