In this one-day Lapidary workshop you'll experience the magic of turning a stones into a polished gems! We'll have beautiful gemstone rough to use, and Gary will show you the process from A to Z! Use the CabKing Cabbing Machine to shape and polish your cabochons. No experience necessary. All materials included. You're welcome to bring a bag lunch, snacks or beverage and we'll take a lunch break. Just 4 seats available so sign up early! Available for ages 14+.

Sawtooth thanks the Forsyth Gem and Mineral Club for their establishment of a scholarship to support students wishing to attend courses in lapidary arts at Sawtooth. The Forsyth Gem and Mineral Club (Paul Burton and Dick Hartz) Lapidary Arts Scholarship is now available. Interested students should apply using the Sawtooth scholarship form online.

Parker, Gary

Mr. Parker has lived in Greensboro since 1963 and became fascinated with minerals as a Cub Scout. He became involved with the Greensboro Gem and Mineral Club in the early eighties and has been an active member ever since. Currently serving as president of the mineral club, Gary has served in all aspects of the club activities. Gary has taught Lapidary classes in the past including cabbing at the Greensboro Cultural Arts Center and the Natural Science Center of Greensboro. Additional classes taken over the years include wire wrapping, silversmithing, jewelry design and faceting. Gary does freelance cabbing at home, makes gem trees, and participates in several mineral shows as a vendor. He appreciates having the opportunity to share his knowledge with the students at the Sawtooth School.
