Explore the art of wood bending and make a box that is steeped in tradition - and boiling water! Learn about selecting and preparing the right wood for bending and working with a hot water tray and bending forms to take advantage of the natural properties of wood to create curved forms. Through creating this traditional form, you'll learn to expand the possibilities of working with wood. Students can expect to make one oval box in class. The instructor will also cover finishing with traditional shellac. All skill levels are welcome and materials and tools will be provided.

Additional Information:
  • A $30 materials fee will be added to the total class fee at checkout

  • Enrollment is open to students ages 14 and up

Wilson, Christopher

Christopher Wilson is a traditional hand tool woodworking enthusiast, furniture maker, and luthier. He holds a BS from Clemson University in Mechanical Engineering and currently works as a researcher in the Aerospace Engineering field. Christopher has a workshop at his home where he runs a small business making acoustic guitars and handmade wood furniture. Christopher is originally from the mountains of Western North Carolina and he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing music, hiking, and Judo.
