In this hands-on workshop we explore the basics of shibori-inspired folds and binding techniques to create beautiful color patterns on fabric with indigo dye.  We'll discuss dyes and dye techniques and prepare our materials for dyeing.  Our samples include:  folding and pleating, twisting and tying, clamping and stitching.  We will dye our one-of-a-kind patterns with our designs reveled as the fabrics are unfolded.  Ages 14 and up.

Gauldin, Kathryn

Kathryn employs pattern, texture and color using printmaking, weaving, dyes and other materials in combinations to make art and fine craft. Kathryn enjoys the challenge of materials and structure, sometimes redefining and repurposing the intention of the material, with great inspiration from nature. She studied art at UNCG, WCU, Haywood Production Crafts program and has a BA in Art from High Point College and continues to make mistakes and learn new things. She exhibits locally, participates in residencies and presents workshops. Kathryn has been awarded several grants that fund new projects that are easily found on social media and local galleries.
