Create dynamic and powerful portraits through posing and the use of off-camera flash. Using the ratios of existing light, flash, and flash source placement students will learn how to influence the mood and expression of the finished image. Learn the difference between the use of ND Filter vrs. High speed Sync and more. This workshop will give you the confidence to instruct and collaborate with various models, transform and mold drab locations with proper light placement and camera angle, while using a small and portable and budget friendly light kit. 

  • Location walk around, basic posing and off camera flash use will be practiced by the students over a 3 week session. Images created in the class will be compared and reviewed each week. Students need to have a working knowledge of Photoshop or Lightroom but it is not required however a firm understanding of camera operation in manual or aperture mode is required.
Hurst, C. Stephen

C. Stephen Hurst recently moved to Winston-Salem from New York City where he spent many years as a professional photographer and instructor at the International School of Photography. Hurst is a self-taught photographer who emphasizes connection, anticipation, and communication through his process; some of Hurst’s photography clients have included the Disney Family Foundation, Nike, and Columbia Business School.
