Jillian Ohl's college preparation course helps students develop a unique and coherent body of work that is essential to students considering applying to a visual arts program.

This is a drawing-focused class that will help high school students build a portfolio to use for the college application process. Students will be drawing from observation and learning about basic principles such as composition, figure drawing, value, perspective, line, and form as well as building a sketchbook practice. The class will end with photo documentation of artwork and a one-on-one portfolio review with the instructor to help guide the student in their academic art and design journey. 

The $10 material fee covers all paper and tools needed for the course.

Ohl, Jillian

Jillian Ohl is an artist and illustrator from Winston Salem, North Carolina. She received her MFA from Washington University and BAD from North Carolina State University. She is currently teaching at Appalachian State University and Forsyth Technical Community College. Inspired by fashion, pop culture, humor, symbolism, femininity, and the specificity of place, her 2D work is a mix of drawing, painting, collage, and printmaking.
