Learn the techniques to make traditional spiculum necklaces from sheet metal using hammers and stakes. Then accept the challenge to make this ancient style your own by cutting, bending, adding stones and imaginatively manipulating this form that has been around since the 8th century BC.

This workshop is appropriate for experienced metalsmiths or enthusiastic beginners.

  • A $20 tool kit rental fee will be collected during registration and includes a student tool kit compiled by NC Black with all the tools necessary for the weekend. Students should bring 22 gauge nu-gold sheet to use during the workshop. Some will be available to purchase at Sawtooth if you do not bring/have. All other materials included. Students are welcome to bring any other stones/materials to include in their creation, if desired.
