Learn the skills and techniques of traditional woodworking while building your very own hand tools. The marking gauge is used for scribing an accurate line in the long-grain direction (with the grain) and is essential for stock dimensioning as well as laying out joinery. There are many applications of the marking gauge, and it is one of the most fundamental tools of the traditional shop.

Additional Information:

  • A $20 materials fee is will be due to the instructor upon the start of class.
  • Registration will close one week prior to the start of class.
  • This class is open to students ages 14 and up.

Wilson, Christopher

Christopher Wilson is a traditional hand tool woodworking enthusiast, furniture maker, and luthier. He holds a BS from Clemson University in Mechanical Engineering and currently works as a researcher in the Aerospace Engineering field. Christopher has a workshop at his home where he runs a small business making acoustic guitars and handmade wood furniture. Christopher is originally from the mountains of Western North Carolina and he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing music, hiking, and Judo.
