Explore the village of Salem that grew and merged into Winston-Salem. This photo walk will discuss techniques, tools, and skill set for creating images of historic places. The class is entirely outside and we will meet in Old Salem.  We will illustrate techniques to overcome some of the challenges inherent in photographing buildings and sites where vantage points are limited. DSLR cameras are ideal, and we will also discuss techniques for great photographs with mobile phones.

Daniel, Larry

My photographic journey started about as long ago as I can remember with film and flashbulbs. I moved to a 35 mm SLR as I finished high school and documented my trip through college and graduate school. A broken camera meter led to many years of familiarity with a hand held light meter and exposure control. Most of my photography has been a record of my travels while doing research and teaching at Wake Forest, and in Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, The Republic of Georgia, China and Japan. Along the journey, I have moved into the digital world and enjoy the image control it provides.
