Turn your jewelry visions into reality! This course begins with a study of jewelry design using ideas from inspirational images and your own imagination. Learn to illustrate your ideas and play with design options using pencil and paper, templates and mock-ups. Discuss materials, metalsmithing techniques and functionality of design while refining your jewelry ideas. Then focus on bringing one or more of your unique designs to reality while you learn traditional metalsmithing techniques like sawing, filing, piercing, forging, soldering, polishing and more. You'll use sheet metal (copper, brass, silver) wire, chain, findings, beads... whatever the design dictates. Beginners are welcome and students with previous experience will also benefit from the paced approach that will take you from conception to completion. Some materials included in the fee. Others discussed during class. Please bring a sketchbook, preferred drawing pencils or pens and your ideas to the first class session. Ages 16+
