Learn the basics (and some secrets) of monotype printing with high contrast and strong darks using a water-soluble ink. Dark field monotypes can be anything from a powerful and atmospheric style to a straightforward and graphic presentation. In this course, we will use plexiglass as a reusable base and a variety of everyday tools to manipulate the ink in both reductive and additive methods. This form of monotyping caters to a wide range of styles and techniques. Students will learn how to work reductively with the ink, set up, use the press properly, and print their images.
