Explore the art of printmaking in a professional print studio, learning multiple printing techniques and becoming familiar with the printmaking process. Students will be introduced to mono-printing and will be using cutout shapes and found materials like feathers, leaves, laces, and nylon nets, creating interesting and unique prints on paper by hand. Instruction on an etching press will be covered and will give students the opportunity to experience printing on the press! Students will be using a safe, non-toxic ink by Akua that also makes for easy clean-up!

  • A material fee of $6 is due upon registration. Class size is limited to 8 students. No prior experience is necessary. Enrollment is limited to students between the ages of 9 and 12. Masking and social distancing is required in all Sawtooth classes.
Wu, Mona

A native of China, Mona Wu immigrated to US in 1970. She studied Chinese painting and calligraphy in Hong Kong then received her BA in Art History from Salem College in 1996. She also studied Printmaking at WFU as an auditor from 1997-2014. In 2003 Wu was selected as Sawtooth School of Visual Art Winston- Salem Artist of the year. She teaches Printmaking and Collage in the School. Wu is currently a member of Artworks Gallery, an artist co-op art gallery in downtown Winston-Salem.
