Come together to learn to create three different baskets, a square pie basket, a rectangular napkin basket, and a bread basket on an oval shaped wooden base. These baskets for gatherings will take you on a journey to learn a wide array of basketry techniques through their different styles, adding up to a beautiful and useful set of baskets. Learn stop and start weaving, Chicken feet closed bottom base, twining and triple twining, and finish with beautiful dyed reeds to suit your style. Multiple colors of accent reed will be available. This class is open to students ages 14 and up. Masks are required in this and all Sawtooth classes. A material fee of $80 will be due to the instructor upon the start of the first class.

Tilley, Cheryl

Cheryl Tilley has been a basket weaver and teacher for over 30 years. She is a member of North Carolina Basket Makers (NCBA), Tidewater Basketry Guild and the local guild, Winston Salem Arcadia Basket Makers, which meets the first Tuesday of the month at Georgia Taylor Rec Center. She has taught at NCBA, the local guild, Kernersville Parks and Recreation, and Forsyth Tech. She has also taught basketry at several WSFC schools, Winston Salem Street School, Vacation Bible School for various churches and Davie County summer school program. Along with teaching, she has designed several baskets and written patterns for them. She looks forward to teaching at Sawtooth.
