In this four week class, students will be challenged to make selfies using a 4x5 large format camera, develop the film, and make contact prints from their negatives. The students learn to operate a large format camera by focusing, setting the aperture and shutter speed, cocking the shutter, and inserting/removing the film holder. The students will develop the film in the darkroom and print silver gelatin contact prints using an enlarger. A history of portraiture and a variety of lighting techniques will also be discussed.
