Varnadoe, Kim

Kimberly Varnadoe, recently retired Professor of Art at Salem College in Winston-Salem, received her BFA in Painting from the University of South Alabama and her MFA in Printmaking from the University of Memphis. In addition to teaching in the Art , Art History and Design Department, she also directs the Elberson Fine Arts Center Galleries, curating multiple exhibits each year. Varnadoe has worked with experimental photography and a variety of printmaking techniques for more than 30 years, often combining the two processes in her artwork. She enjoys experimentation and feels that art is most alive during the process of art making and the product is the record of the process. She enjoys sharing ideas and processes with the students at the Sawtooth School because the atmosphere is welcoming and the people inspiring! Varnadoe has exhibited her work extensively in North Carolina and in a number of galleries throughout the southeast US She has been a member of Artworks Gallery, the longest running co-op gallery in Winston-Salem, since 2003 and has served on Artworks Gallery Executive Board for several years.
