Come make a barn quilt in the wood studio. Barn quilts are beautiful geometric quilt squares painted on wood that decorate rural landscapes across the U.S. Often mounted on the exterior walls of barns, garages or potting sheds, they are a long-standing folk-art tradition of the American countryside. Lean the basics of the design and layout of this beautiful 12-pointed star with a digital design demo and simple measuring tools and discuss the suitability of materials and paints for a work of art that lives outdoors. The quilt made in class will be 2’ by 2’ and use the paint colors provided by the instructor. A material fee of $25 will be due to the instructor on the first day of class.

Gondring, Kim

As an instructor I believe that every student can express artistic expression in every piece they create. Understanding the technology of woodworking is necessary to being able to support this vision. We teach both expression and technology. The details can be demanding, but at the end of the day the student will take away a creation they love and value.
