Arnold, Shawna

My work predominantly focuses on landscape and elements of the natural world. Through expressive mark-making I strive to create the feeling of the quiet interactions we have with nature. I graduated with a BFA in Art Education from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 2012. In 2013 I was awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in San Juan, Argentina. There I worked in community arts with local preschool programs. When I returned to the states I continued to make art while focusing on my career as an elementary art teacher at a public school in Memphis, Tennessee. In 2016 I moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina where I taught art at a local elementary school. I am now focusing on painting in my studio in the Winston-Salem, Downtown Arts District. I live with my husband, 2 young daughters, and dog. Some of my favorite things are hiking, being outside, spending time with my family, and exploring new places.
