Join us as we explore mindful poetry to cultivate awareness and attention to what is happening in the present moment. We will incorporate meditation and breathing techniques to help us transition from one activity to another. We will expand mindful vocabulary, read poems from “Poetry of the Presence”, and explore using imagery, writing, and art, as an artistic response to works presented in this space. Sharing is voluntarily. All are welcome!

Kellyman, Wanda

I am a licensed special education teacher, national certified counselor, licensed clinical mental health counselor associate, and Director of Accessibility Resources. I am completing my graduate certificate at Appalachian State University in Expressive Arts Therapy and my PhD in Leadership Studies at NC A&T. I have been drawing, painting, designing, and exploring expressive art modalities since I was eight. As a student at ASU, I found my passion when I was introduced to poetry therapy. I not only registered to become a certified poetry therapist, but I also joined the National Association of Poetry Therapist where I serve as a regional rep for the triad area. I am excited to share poetry to support the well-being of others, as a team wellbeing coach and advocate of self-care.
