In photography, the everyday and expected can be easily overlooked. This workshop is a challenge to see the immediate world outside your door as a place of limitless creative opportunity.  Together, we dive head first in seeing anew with the goal of creating a cohesive 10 image student portfolio of no more than 400 footsteps outside of your door. This 4 week class will begin with a photowalk near Sawtooth to illustrate techniques to building a 'FootSteps' portfolio and continue with weekly portfolio challenges, reviews, critique, and mentorship. This class is open to all students who have a firm understanding of their photographic tool. SLR, Mirrorless, SmartPhone, large format, etc...

  • A working camera or Smartphone plus knowledge of how to use the camera or smartphone.
Hurst, C. Stephen

C. Stephen Hurst recently moved to Winston-Salem from New York City where he spent many years as a professional photographer and instructor at the International School of Photography. Hurst is a self-taught photographer who emphasizes connection, anticipation, and communication through his process; some of Hurst’s photography clients have included the Disney Family Foundation, Nike, and Columbia Business School. Hurst holds a B.F.A. in Cinema Studies from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Learn more about his work at amancalledhurst.com.
