This fun and challenging class is designed for beginners and novices to the potter’s wheel. With daily demonstrations and one-on-one attention, students learn the basic elements of wheel throwing while making cups, bowls, and more. They will choose their finishing glaze colors. Due to time constraints, glazing and firing will be done by the instructor for pickup later. No experience necessary. Repeat students encouraged.

  • Class is capped at a maximum of 8 students. Cloth face coverings and social distancing are required in this and all Sawtooth classes.
  • A $30 material fee for stoneware clay and related glazing and firing will be added at time of checkout.

  • For your first class, you will need to bring a large car wash sponge for cleaning.
Leonard, Cynthia

Cynthia Leonard has been a ceramicist with her own studio for over 20 years. She has attended numerous ceramics workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and the Sawtooth Center. She has developed her teaching skills during her two decades as an Art Educator at Reynolda House Museum of American Art, focusing on individualized instruction for students.
