PLEASE NOTE: This is a two part class which includes a prerecorded video. The first part of the class has been prerecorded and will be made available to you 2 weeks before the class start date. The date listed is a 1-hour follow-up Zoom session to review further techniques and answer questions.
This class will cover the basics of slow stitching and mindful embroidery, guiding you through the basics of making a piece of textile art while learning how stitching and textile work can be a mindfulness practice. Slow stitching is a soothing practice to incorporate into self care and is accessible to anyone with a needle and thread!
We’ll review the rich cultural history of textile work and its impact on wellbeing. You’ll learn several stitching techniques and how to work through your own piece of textile art from start to finish. Your finished textile art will stand on its own as a piece of artwork, or can be incorporated into other projects, such as quilts, zipper pouches, wall hangings, and many more.
A kit is included in the class registration, but you are encouraged to use any textiles found around you to personalize or add meaning to your artwork. Kits will be available for pickup prior to the start of the group. Mailing kits is available with additional cost and can be arranged with director after registration.
