If you’ve learned the basics of jewelry fabrication, this metals class will give you the opportunity to pursue projects of your own choice along with enjoying demos on jewelry fabrication techniques, catered to student interest. Possible topics include form-forming and other three-dimensional metal forming techniques, surface alterations with texture and patina, and jewelry designing considerations. After demos, there will be lots of work time and individual guidance. Some jewelry fabrication experience is necessary. Students will provide their own materials, some metal is available for purchase during class. Tools and equipment are provided, or students may bring their own. We’ll have a max of 6 students during class. Masks and social distancing are required in this and all Sawtooth classes.

Davis, Nannette

Nannette Davis graduated from Kansas University with a bachelor’s degree in graphic arts and communication and a bachelor’s degree in fine art in metalsmithing. After working as a lead bench and assistant for a jewelry designer in Chicago, she built her studio and started a jewelry line. She worked for 16 years in Gatti-Davis Designs Studio in Colorado then moved to Winston-Salem in 2005 and taught in the public schools through 2011. She teaches classes at Sawtooth and sells her jewelry through craft shows and galleries.
