Explore the creative possibilities of clay without using a potter's wheel. Beginners will learn pinch, slab, and coil techniques to create functional and sculptural projects. Students with experience can refine their skills while exploring new forms and design options. Various decorating and glazing techniques will also be explored.

Join us for an exciting new series of online digital classes created by Sawtooth instructors and staff. Students will receive high-level ceramic instruction in the safety of their own homes using the Zoom platform. Class includes instruction, demonstrations, slideshows, as well as question and answer time.

Online lessons will be recorded for students to review at their convenience for the duration of the class.

  • Students have the option of working completely from home or purchasing an optional studio access pass to work in the Sawtooth Handbuilding and Glazing Studios during designated open studio times. Students who are working completely from home are encouraged to have access to clay, glazes, and a kiln to fire their finished work.
  • Students who purchase a studio access pass will also need to purchase 25 lbs. of clay (with related glazing and firing). All students will need a basic pottery tool kit. To purchase a tool kit, please contact our registrar: registrar@sawtooth.org

Nicole Studied handbuilding under Lana Wilson at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Cristina Cordova at Penland School of Craft. Received MFA in sculpture from Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, MA. Known for hand coiling, free-formed slabs and highly textured works.
