Students will be guided through drawing techniques from contour drawing to hatching to color & collage. They will work from life and from the imagination, blending the concrete with the intuitive as they create entries in their sketchbooks. After six weeks, students will be well on their way to an active sketchbook practice. Please obtain supplies prior to you first class.
We take a max of 6 students in the class, and the course is open to ages 14 through adult. Masks and social distancing are required in this and all Sawtooth classes.

  • -8x10-9x12 quality sketchbook
  • -Grid Ruler
  • -Small cutting mat
  • -X-acto Knife and extra blades
  • -Grey scale brush tip alcohol markers
  • -Pentel sign pen
  • -ballpoint pens
  • -Pencils, 2B
  • -Mars Plastic Erasure
  • -Kneaded Erasure
  • -Rubber Cement
  • -Rubber Cement Pickup
  • Optional and extras:
  • -Assortment of other materials you want to try out! such as colored pencils, water or latex based paints, inks!
  • -Old magazines, papers, things that you can cut up to use in your work
  • -a laptop or tablet or some sort of access to reference if needed (this is preferred and if impossible, we can work around it)
