A one board bow – as is its name implies - is made from a single wood board without lamination. Master Bowyer Dane Snodgrass will introduce the hand tools and techniques needed to craft this historic weapon. Class time will be split among tool technique, demonstrations of methods, skill building, discussions on materials, and homework review. The class is open to students ages 14 and up. Masks and social distancing are required in this and all Sawtooth classes.

Supplies: Students will need to come prepared with a hatchet, a four-way shoe rasp, and an old hunting knife

Materials: A $20 materials fee is due to instructor on first day of class.

Snodgrass, Dane

Dane Snodgrass is recently retired and trying to live up to expectations. He is an acclaimed master bowyer having made over 1000 bows over the last 60 years. Dane prefers working with hand tools and traditional designs. He draws most inspiration from our North American 1st Nation and leans toward bows of the Northern Plains. Dane grew up in South Dakota.
