Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, sand casting gives new life to old, unused, or broken pieces of metal clay. Students will select either a premade mold or create one from polymer clay, melt scrap metal clay in a crucible, and then pour the molten metal into a prepared flask to create a new jewelry component. We will spend the morning casting, and the afternoon fabricating jewelry with our favorite component. Up to three pieces may be created as time allows. Jewelry fabrication includes soldering, stone setting, and finishing. Kit fee includes all required embellishments but does not include scrap metal clay. Soldering experience is recommended, but adventurous beginners are welcome.
A kit fee of $25 will be collected by the instructor during the workshop.
