Schedule: Fri., 3/13, 6:30-8:30pm and Sat., 3/14, 10am-3pm
This workshop begins with an introduction to the Anime and Manga style. Students will learn about designing a character, how to draw in a distinctive manga style for various genres, and begin to conceptualize a story for their character. The second day will focus on placing characters within a manga page or panel, storyboarding and thumbnailing, sketching the scene, and then inking the artwork by hand in the traditional manga style. At the end of the class, students will have a physical inked piece of artwork that can then be scanned into the computer for digital editing and coloring and all of the tools to continue their future manga creation. Students should have basic drawing skills and an interest in the manga style. Computer skills and experience with Adobe Photoshop CC are helpful but not required.
