Visiting Artist Laurie Schorr is the Director of Education at the Light Factory in Charlotte. She is coming to Sawtooth for two Saturdays to share the creative freedom in making images with Holga and Lomo cameras. These low-tech plastic cameras (with plastic lenses!) are known for their dreamy, nostalgic imagery and the element of surprise in each frame due to lack of total technical control! Each camera has its own imperfections and sculpts light differently. We will be using medium format film for the Holgas and 35mm film for the lomo cameras. With the use of B&W film, we can layer frames in camera, process the film ourselves, and print from our negatives. Negatives can also be scanned and processed digitally. Day one will be an introduction to Holga and Lomography, a photo walk, and processing negatives. Day two we will continue to process negatives, print in the darkroom and scan our negatives. No prior experience is necessary!

  • Teens are welcome in this workshop
  • Several spare cameras will be provided
